Donation Receipt Template

What is a donation receipt? A donation receipt is written proof that a donor made a contribution. It often includes their name and address, as well as how much they contributed and in what form (cash, check, in-kind).

Why do you need to provide your donors with it? A donor can't claim a tax deduction for their donation without a written communication from the charity (especially for donations of $250 or more) or a bank record. See IRS Publication 1771.

We've gone ahead and created a template for you that you are welcome to use as a guideline or as your base for your donation receipts. Download that template here.
